What is Acceptable?

1) Sharing experiences
2) Encouragement and support
3) Compassion and understanding
4) Constructive advice and suggestions
5) Constructive questions
6) Constructively challenging those in need to help themselves change their own situation
7) Respect of others' feelings, life challenges and personal rights
8) Treating others as you would like to be treated
9) Posting information or links to other resources

What is Not Acceptable?

1) Confrontational behavior
2) Taking personal issue with others, arguments
3) Threats, intimidation, name calling or other behaviors viewed as abusive
4) Invalidating others' experiences or emotions
5) Misquoting others or distorting what they have said
6) Violating others' right to privacy by posting their name or other contact information
7) Referring an abuser to this message board in a effort to help them or prove something to them. Such an action violates the sanctuary of the community. The community members are not in a position to assist abusive people.
8) Posts containing advertising for unrelated subjects and products

System Functionality - User IDs/Membership/Guest Posts

1) A User ID or membership is not required to read or post a message. Members must log-in once per visit to post as their User ID. Log-in is maintained for two hours.
2) Signing-up for membership with a User ID requires setting a cookie on the user's machine.
3) Guest posts do NOT set a cookie. Guest posting without a User ID is permitted to protect those who come here in desperation and cannot afford to be traced by a cookie placed on their machine.
4) The message board program prohibits anyone from posting as a guest with a username already established as a member's User ID.
5) All guest posts are automatically indicated by the message board program with the flag [guest].
6) Members are able to edit or delete their own posts after logging-in. The functionality of the message board does not allow members to edit the post of other members.
7) Moderators have the ability to edit and delete posts of others.
8) All posts are date/time stamped in Eastern Standard Time.

Protecting Your Privacy

1) Nothing on the display of this message board or its posts indicates the identity of any poster whether posted as a member or guest.
2) If you have concerns or fears about being found, do not in anyway divulge your own information in your posts.
3) Many members post under a User ID, but sign their actual first name to their posts. That's accepted, but not do so if you wish to remain totally anonymous to other readers.
4) Select your User ID, or username in the case of guest posts, carefully. Do not use your actual name or initials to comprise a User ID unless you are not concerned with being anonymous.

6) Member information is never shared with others. Email addresses and all personal information from member sign-up is strictly protected and held private.
